Project 2025 - A Modern Mein Kampf

Project 2025, also known as the Presidential Transition Project, is a collection of conservative policy proposals from The Heritage Foundation to reshape the U.S. federal government in the event of a Republican victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

Initiated in 2022, it calls for, among other things, the dismantling of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Department of Homeland Security (DHS), a reduction of environmental and climate change regulations to favor fossil fuel production, eliminating the Department of Commerce, and ending the independence of federal agencies such as the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC). It would also remove legal protections against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity and terminating diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs.

Kevin Roberts, president of the Heritage Foundation, established Project 2025 with the goal of "building a governing agenda, not just for next January but long into the future”. Reminiscent of Hitler’s autobiography, Mein Kampf, published in 1925, Project 2025 is a blueprint - a manifesto - of the conservative Christian nationalists’ pursuit of, not only power, but domination.

“Project 2025 will not be stopped. We will not give up and we will win.”

- Kevin Roberts

If there’s a conservative plan for power, is there a democratic plan or response?

Democratic Rep. Jared Huffman of California unveiled The Stop Project 2025 Task Force. Founder of the Free Thought Caucus on Capitol Hill in response to a rise of Christian nationalism within GOP ranks and efforts to push more conservative theology into government.

“If we're trying to react to it and understand it in real time, it's too late,” he said. “We need to see it coming well in advance and prepare ourselves accordingly.”

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) announced preparations for potential legal action to stop Trump's campaign promise to launch mass deportations of immigrants on the first day of his presidency if elected.

The Stop Project 2025 Task Force comprises less than a dozen lawmakers. Project 2025 is a coalition of over 100 organizations, universities and thousands of MAGA loyalists teed up to replace civil servants throughout several government agencies to implement the project’s plan in the event of a republican victory.
